There’s almost no reading of Scripture, let alone exposition of the text. Instead, he tells his audience that God has given him a “word.” It’s all very practical, all very helpful, and almost totally divorced from the Scriptures, the work of Christ, and grace. Even more, there is no respect for the holiness of God. Yet things have not always been this way. I remember listening to this man’s early sermons (many years ago) and they contained all the necessary ingredients of a Christ-honoring sermon.
